Bhubaneswar: Former Congress leader and Ex-MLA of Rajnagar, Anshuman Mohanty, has joined the Biju Janata Dal, providing a further advantage to the ruling party ahead of the upcoming elections.
Mohanty joined the BJD at an induction programme held at Sankha Bhawan, the party office of the BJD in Bhubaneswar.
BJD Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das welcomed Mohanty to the party and expressed his belief that his joining would give a significant boost to the party in Kendrapara district.
BJD MP Manas Mangaraj, other senior BJD leaders including Pratap Jena and present MLA of Rajnagar Dhruba Charan Sahoo were present at the event.
In 2014, Mohanty was elected to Odisha Assembly from Rajnagar constituency in Kendrapara district. Recently, he resigned from the primary membership of the Congress and also stepped down from the post of president of the Kendrapara District Congress Committee.
