Odisha Vigilance has convicted the former BDO in Koraput and a former Junior Engineer in Kalahandi in a vigilance corruption case and sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment.
The convicts have been identified as Ramesh Chandra Sahu, a former Block Development Officer of Narayanpatna block in Koraput district and Padmanav Rout, the former Junior Engineer in Golamunda block in Kalahandi district.
According to information received by the Vigilance, Ramesh Chandra Sahu, Ex-BDO Koraput was arrested and charge-sheeted after allegations of embezzlement of government funds were filed against him. In that incident, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rs 50,000. He was also convicted in a case earlier.
Similarly, the Ex-Junior Engineer of Golamunda block Padmanav Rout has been charged with abuse of power and corruption in government funds. He was charged with pecuniary damage and sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rs 10,000.
