The Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore, convicted Ramesh Chandra Sen, Former Secretary of Arnapal Service Co-operative Society (SCS) under BBCC Bank, Bhadrak Branch, for misappropriation of society funds.
Odisha Vigilance charge-sheeted Sen under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Sections 409/34 IPC. Investigators proved that he withdrew money from the Savings Bank Deposit (Thrift) account of the SCS maintained in the BBCC Bhadrak Branch, but failed to account for it.
The court sentenced Sen to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000. Moreover, Vigilance officials confirmed that they will move the competent authority to stop his pension following the conviction.
