Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested, Rajendra Dash, a former Accounts Officer of Reamal Block in Deogarh district for possessing disproportionate assets of more than Rs 8 crores.
Rajendra Dash was arrested and is being forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs.8,04,64,645 which, the Vigilance said is 514 per cent more than his known sources of income.
He was earlier arrested on June 27, 2023, in a trap case for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.6,000 from a complainant for processing the release of pending bills in his favour in connection with the construction of Anganwadi Centre. He was sent to judicial custody till July 7 and was later released on bail.
During house searches conducted on June 27 and 28 by a Vigilance team following the trap, movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Dash and his family members.
Bank Deposits of Rs.1,70,45,009 and Gold and Silver Jewellery and household articles worth over Rs.6.60 Lakh were also unearthed during the raids.
The Vigilance has registered a case against Reamal Block Ex-Accounts Officer, Rajendra Dash and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 P.C. Amendment Act,2018.
During house searches conducted on 27/28.06.2023 by the team of Odisha Vigilance following the trap on 27.06.2023, the following movable and immovable assets worth Crores were unearthed in the name of Rajendra Dash, Ex-Accounts Officer, Reamal Block, Dist-Deogarh and his family members.

- One G+2 storeyed building situated over Plot No.2013/4274, Khata No.210/491 of Mouza-Thelkoloi, PS-Thelkoloi, Dist- Sambalpur.
- One G+2 storeyed building situated over Plot No. 2013/4275, Khata No.210/491 of Mouza-Thelkoloi, PS-Thelkoloi, Dist- Sambalpur.

“After through search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Rajendra Dash, Ex-Accounts Officer, Reamal Block, Dist-Deogarh were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs.8,04,64,645/- (Rupees Eight Crore Four Lakh Sixty-four Thousand Six Hundred Forty-five), which constituted 514% of his known sources of income. Investigation of the case is in progress,” the Vigilance said.
