A major fraud case surfaced in Bhubaneswar when Gujarat Police arrested a local couple for duping customers with fake foreign tour packages worth Rs 10 lakh.
The couple operated a travel agency in Bhubaneswar and lured residents of Gujarat with attractive overseas travel offers. They collected large sums of money but never organised the promised tours. Victims filed complaints in Gujarat after the couple refused to return the money.
Following the complaints, Gujarat Police registered a case and launched an investigation. A special team traced the couple to Bhubaneswar and arrested them. Officers found suitcases and belongings with the accused, raising suspicion that they planned to flee. Police confirmed that the couple would face interrogation in Gujarat and that investigators would probe the fraud in detail.
The incident created shockwaves in the capital city and raised serious questions about the credibility of travel agencies. Authorities advised citizens to verify licenses and past records before booking packages. Police also urged other victims in Odisha to come forward if they faced similar fraud.
The foreign tour scam in Bhubaneswar highlighted the growing risk of fraudulent travel schemes. Law enforcement agencies continue to tighten investigations to ensure accountability and protect customers from such deceit.
