The first National Lok Adalat of the year will be organised on March 14, 2026, at all judicial courts in Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Banpur, Chilika, Tangi, Jatani and Begunia.
Announcing the date, Salomi Sahu, Secretary of the Khordha District Legal Services Authority, said the one-day camp will focus on amicable settlement of pending cases through mutual consent.
Cases eligible for resolution include compoundable criminal matters, cheque bounce disputes, bank loans, revenue cases, motor vehicle accidents, labour and employment issues, electricity and water bill arrears, telephone dues, bank loan defaults, matrimonial disputes (except divorce), land acquisition matters, service-related claims (salary and retirement benefits), and all types of civil suits.
“No court fee is required to participate in the Lok Adalat. The award passed is final, binding and enforceable like any court decree,” Sahu said. If a case is settled, the court fee already paid will also be refunded.
The authority has appealed to the public to make the most of this opportunity to resolve long-pending cases without spending money or time.
People have been requested to contact their respective courts or the nearest Legal Services Authority in advance to get their cases listed for the March 14 National Lok Adalat.
