A fire broke out at the Trauma Centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi this afternoon, prompting an immediate response from the Delhi Fire Services.
Five fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to control the blaze, which originated from a transformer at the facility. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident has reignited concerns about fire safety in Delhi’s hospitals.
According to the Delhi Fire Services, the fire was first noticed around midday, with thick smoke billowing from the trauma centre. Fire officials confirmed that the blaze started due to a malfunctioning transformer, a common source of electrical fires in critical infrastructure.
The quick deployment of fire tenders helped contain the fire, preventing any escalation that could have endangered patients and staff.
