Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh of the Union Ministry of Finance tragically lost his life in a road accident near Delhi Cantt metro station on Sunday evening.
Singh and his wife, Sandeep Kaur, were returning from Bangla Sahib Gurudwara on a motorcycle when they were struck by a BMW reportedly driven by a woman named Gaganpreet.
While Singh succumbed to his injuries, Kaur remains in critical condition. The incident has sparked controversy over the handling of the victims post-accident. Instead of being taken to the nearest hospital, the couple was transported nearly 17 kilometers away to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar, allegedly linked to an acquaintance of the accused.
The couple’s son has raised concerns about the delay and questioned the motives behind choosing a distant hospital. He also alleged that the hospital may be assisting in concealing the driver’s condition and preparing a false medico-legal certificate.
Delhi Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered under sections 105, 125B, 281, and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to destruction and concealment of evidence. Investigations are ongoing.
