In a tragic incident, a farmer named Gobinda Chandra Nayak was fatally shot on his farm in Fasigan village, Dhenkanal district, during the early hours of Sunday.

Nayak, who regularly stayed overnight at his farm to protect his crops, was approached by unidentified individuals around 3 am. Upon reacting to their presence, he was shot multiple times. Despite efforts to transport him to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.

Family members reported that an ambulance was unavailable, prompting them to use a personal vehicle for the emergency. Authorities have initiated an investigation, but the assailants remain unidentified, and the motive is yet to be determined.
