A farmer lost his life in Bukuramunta village of Padmapur block, Bargarh district, after coming into contact with a snapped electric wire while spraying pesticide in his field.
Rabi Sahu entered his field early in the morning, unaware of a broken live wire lying across the crops. As he stepped into the field, he was electrocuted instantly. Nearby farmers later spotted him lying unconscious and rushed him to Padmapur hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Rabi leaves behind his wife and two sons, who now face an uncertain future. Villagers expressed grief and urged the government to provide compensation to the bereaved family. They believe financial assistance could help the family recover from the sudden loss.
Local leaders including Trinath Gadatia and Nibas Bhoi demanded a thorough investigation and immediate relief for the victim’s family. They emphasized the need for accountability and safety measures to prevent such incidents.
