Acting on the instructions of Excise Superintendent Sushant Kumar Padhi, the Excise Mobile Squad intercepted a car near the local FCI Square and seized 136 kilograms of ganja.
Officers also confiscated the vehicle and arrested three accused involved in the illegal trafficking.
The arrested men have been identified as Lambodar Mallik of Kadipari village under Gochhapada police station, and Brishabh Kahnar and Surath Kahnar of Pang Paju village. During interrogation, they admitted to transporting ganja from Gochhapada to Boudh district.
The raid team included Excise Inspector Purna Chandra Behera, SI Chinmaya Dalai, and Constable Amulya Lenka. Officials confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb ganja smuggling and destroy illegal plantations in the region.
Superintendent Padhi, who recently assumed charge, has intensified regular campaigns against ganja trafficking and liquor mafias. His proactive measures have created widespread fear among those engaged in illegal trade.
Authorities stated that the crackdown reflects the department’s commitment to dismantling organised networks and ensuring strict enforcement of excise laws. The arrested accused will face legal proceedings, and further investigation is underway to trace the larger supply chain.
