New Delhi: Anush Agarwalla, who won a historic individual bronze medal at the 2023 Asian Games, has secured a Paris Olympic quota for the country in dressage discipline, the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) announced on Monday.
Agarwalla achieved the quota with his four EFI events in Wroclaw, Poland (73.485 per cent), Kroneberg, Netherlands (74.4 per cent), Frankfurt, Germany (72.9 per cent), and Mechelen, Belgium (74.2 per cent). Agarwalla is a historic individual bronze medalist at the 2023 Asian Games.
In a low-fenced arena, the horse and rider execute a set of choreographed movements to compete in dressage competitions. The horse must remain within the boundaries while performing.
The 24-year-old rode Etro (horse name) in the 2023 Asian Games during his push for the medal.
The National Olympic Committee (NOC), which has the final say over each country’s representation in the Olympics, will decide whether or not each individual will compete in the games.
Furthermore, the EFI will do a trial before submitting the final names for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
