New Delhi: The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has reached a significant milestone in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree plantation campaign.
The goal was to plant 80 crore seedlings by September 2024, and this target has been met today. This achievement was made possible by the collective efforts of government agencies, village-level institutions, local communities, and other stakeholders.
‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is a nationwide tree plantation initiative launched on World Environment Day, June 5th, 2024. The campaign encourages individuals to plant a tree in honour of their mothers as a symbol of love, respect, and tribute, and to commit to protecting trees and Mother Earth. The initiative also focuses on stopping land degradation and the ecological restoration of degraded lands.
