England’s cricket team has shattered records by setting the highest team total in ICC Champions Trophy history.
Playing against Australia at the Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore, England amassed a staggering 351 for eight in their allotted 50 overs.
This monumental achievement surpasses the previous record held by New Zealand, who scored 347 for four against the USA in 2004 at The Oval. The star of England’s innings was opener Ben Duckett, whose phenomenal performance saw him score 165 runs off just 143 balls, the highest individual score in the tournament’s history. Duckett’s innings eclipsed Nathan Astle’s unbeaten 145.
England’s batting onslaught was further bolstered by Joe Root’s 68 runs off 78 balls. The duo’s crucial 158-run partnership for the third wicket laid a solid foundation for the record-breaking total. In the final overs, Jofra Archer contributed a rapid 21 runs off 10 balls, ensuring England surpassed New Zealand’s previous benchmark.
