In a dominant display of batting and bowling, England thrashed India by 153 runs in their ICC Women’s World Cup warm-up match on Thursday.
Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt led from the front with a scintillating 120 off 104 balls, forging a 173-run stand with Emma Lamb, who smashed 84 off 60 deliveries. Their partnership powered England to a formidable 340/9 in 50 overs.
India’s chase faltered early, with Jemimah Rodrigues (66 off 68) and Uma Chetry (45 off 50) offering brief resistance. The rest of the batting lineup failed to fire, and India were bundled out for 187 in just 34 overs. Notably, top-order stars Pratika Rawal, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Smriti Mandhana did not bat.
England’s bowlers, led by Linsey Smith and Sophie Ecclestone (2 wickets each), kept India in check, while Kranti Goud emerged as India’s standout bowler with 3/31.
A major concern for India was the injury to pacer Arundhati Reddy, who collapsed on the field after an awkward landing and had to be stretchered off.
India will face New Zealand in their final warm-up match on Saturday before heading to Guwahati for their World Cup opener against Sri Lanka on September 30.
