England has announced its 15-member T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming tour of India, which is scheduled to begin next month, as well as for the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
Returning to the ODI team is experienced batter Joe Root, who last played in this format during England’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign. England, the winners of the 2019 edition, unfortunately, exited the tournament in the group stage after winning only three out of their nine matches.
Root, 33, has played 171 ODIs, scoring 6,522 runs at an average of 47.60. His impressive record includes 16 centuries and 39 half-centuries.
All-rounder Ben Stokes has not been considered for selection as he is still recovering from a left hamstring injury sustained during England’s third Test match against New Zealand earlier this month.
