Bhubaneswar: Eminent personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik have expressed deep grief over the passing away of noted sculptor and Rajya Sabha member Raghunath Mohapatra due to COVID-19.
Renowned sculptor from Odisha, Padma Vibhushan Raghunath Mohapatra passed away on Sunday at the age of 78 years. Mohapatra was undergoing treatment at Bhubaneswar AIIMS after testing COVID-19 positive a few days ago.
The Prime Minister took to Twitter to express his condolences:-
Saddened by the demise of MP Shri Raghunath Mohapatra Ji. He made pioneering contributions to the world of art, architecture and culture. He will be remembered for his contributions towards popularising traditional crafts. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also tweeted:-

Odisha Chief Minister, who was regularly enquiring about the health condition of the illustrious sculptor, also expressed deep grief. He tweeted:-

Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal also expressed anguish over the sad demise of the sculptor of international repute. He took to Twitter and wrote:-
