Elon Musk has strongly denied reports linking him to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after his name appeared in the third batch of files released from Epstein’s estate.
According to BBC, the documents – turned over to the US House Oversight Committee – reportedly included a tentative itinerary showing Musk’s possible trip to Epstein’s private island in December 2014, along with a handwritten note reading, “Is this still happening?” Prince Andrew was also named in the latest batch.
Musk responded on X (formerly Twitter) after a user criticised the news coverage, alleging it was an attempt to smear the billionaire. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO simply replied: “This is false.”
The user’s post had claimed that “every few months the media makes up new lies to attack Elon Musk” and accused political opponents of targeting him because of his support for free speech through X.
Social media reactions were largely supportive of Musk, with users posting comments like:
-
“They just want an Elon-gate.”
-
“I would literally eat my shirt before I’d believe he was one of those monsters.”
-
“Yes, the wishful musings of a dead man who cannot be cross-examined.”
The phrase “Elongate” – which Musk had joked about in 2021 as a potential name for any future scandal – also trended online after the files were released.
