Dhenkanal: A man and his five-year-old son were attacked by an elephant at Mahulagad village in Dhenkanal.
As per available reports, the jumbo trampled the father-son duo while they were sleeping on verandah of their house at Mahulagad village.
While the minor boy died on the spot, his critically-injured father is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Villagers demanded that the kin of the deceased be adequately compensated and staged a demonstration on the issue. They also claimed that elephant herds are regularly straying into their locality and damage crops and properties.
