The Confiscation Court of the Authorized Officer, Special Court (Vigilance), Bhubaneswar, has ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets worth ₹2,50,44,029 belonging to Simadri Nayak, a former Executive Engineer (Retired) of the R.W. Division, Umarkote, District Nabarangpur.

The order was pronounced on February 17, 2026, following due legal proceedings under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Details of Confiscated Assets

The confiscated assets include both immovable and movable properties accumulated beyond known sources of income:

Immovable Assets:

  • One multi-storeyed building in Rayagada

  • Two buildings in Nabarangpur

  • Three plots of land (one in Rayagada town and two in Nabarangpur town)

Movable Assets:

  • Bank deposits

  • Gold ornaments

Background of the Case

Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Simadri Nayak and his spouse under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, along with Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code, for possession of assets disproportionate to their known lawful sources of income.

Following a detailed investigation and trial, the Special Judge, Special Court (Vigilance), Bhubaneswar, convicted both individuals on December 11, 2023, for accumulating disproportionate assets during the period of public service.

The confiscation order marks a significant step in enforcing accountability and strengthening anti-corruption measures in Odisha. Authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring transparency, ethical governance, and equal application of the law.
