The Odisha government has extended internet restrictions across key areas of Cuttack for another 24 hours, effective from 7:00 PM on October 6 to 7:00 PM on October 7, 2025.
The move comes in response to fears that social media platforms and messaging apps could be misused by anti-social elements to spread misinformation and incite public unrest.
According to the Home Department’s notification, the blackout affects mobile data services, broadband connections, and popular platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, X, and Snapchat.
However, essential government networks such as OSWAN, NIC Net, NKN, and services related to banking and railways remain operational.
The restriction covers Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), and the 42 Mauza region. Authorities have warned that violations will invite legal consequences under applicable laws.
