The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued urgent directives to airline operators in response to international airspace closures and overflight restrictions.
These developments have caused significant changes to flight routes, extending travel times and necessitating technical stops. To address the challenges and ensure passenger safety and comfort, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated the implementation of comprehensive passenger handling measures effective immediately.
Key measures include transparent communication to passengers regarding route alterations, extended travel durations, and technical halts. Airlines must upgrade in-flight services to cater to longer block times, providing adequate meals, hydration, and special dietary requirements. Additionally, carriers are required to ensure medical readiness onboard and at stopover airports while enhancing customer support to manage delays and missed connections.
The Ministry emphasises the need for operational coordination across all relevant departments to ensure a seamless travel experience. Non-compliance with these directives may lead to regulatory actions under Civil Aviation Requirements.
