The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 commenced with the auspicious Shahi Snan, drawing millions of devotees to the sacred Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The event, which is the world’s largest religious gathering, has been lauded for its extensive arrangements, thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Devotees expressed their gratitude for the meticulous planning and execution of the festival, which includes enhanced infrastructure, sanitation, and security measures. The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated 549 projects with a budget of approximately ₹7,000 crore to ensure the smooth conduct of the 45-day event.
The festival, held every 12 years, is particularly significant this year due to a rare celestial alignment occurring once every 144 years.. This has added to the spiritual fervor, attracting an estimated 40 crore pilgrims from across the globe.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the devotees, emphasizing the festival’s role in showcasing India’s unity in diversity and its rich spiritual heritage. The government has deployed over 2,300 CCTV cameras for crowd management and safety, ensuring a secure environment for all attendees.
