Cuttack: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday seized Rs 1.50 lakh from the Deputy Ranger of Mobile Party under DFO, North Division of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.
According to a press note from Vigilance Directorate, Odisha Vigilance received a tip-off that Nrutyaraj Majhi, Deputy Ranger has collected a huge amount of cash as gratification from different sources. Following which, the anti-corruption sleuths kept a close watch over the movement and activities of accused Majhi.
Accordingly, the Vigilance officers intercepted Majhi this afternoon near his native village Laxmipur while he was returning from duty on his motorcycle from Bhawanipatna.
During search, a cash of Rs.1,50,000 was found from the possession of accused Deputy Ranger Nrutyaraj Majhi, which he could not satisfactorily account for.
While the cash as well as his motorcycle have been seized, searches were carried out at his residential house and a Brick Factory at Laxmipur owned by Majhi.
