New Delhi:Â Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced that markets will re-open in the national capital and metro services will be resumed from June 7. However, shops will be allowed to open on an odd-even basis, similar to the strategy employed to beat air pollution in the national capital.
“All malls, markets and market complexes (except weekly markets) shall open between 10 am to 8 pm on odd-even basis. This implies that only 50 percent of the shops (excluding those selling essential goods) shall be opened,” order issued by DDMA said.
Private offices will also be allowed to function with 50 percent staff. “Group A staff of government offices will be allowed to function with 100 percent staff, while group B with 50 percent staff,” CM had said during a briefing.
Fresh infections continue to fall in India as the deadly second Covid wave wanes. India reported 120,529 new Covid-19 infections today (lowest since April 7), taking the caseload to 28,694,879. Deaths, however, have not seen a proportionate decline.
