The Delhi Capitals clinched a direct entry to the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

Leading from the front, the fiery Shafali Verma smashed 71 runs off just 37 balls, laced with five sixes and seven fours. Her explosive innings earned her the Player of the Match title and propelled Delhi to effortlessly chase down the target of 127 with a whopping 41 balls to spare.

Earlier in the game, Gujarat Giants opted to bat first but faced early setbacks. They struggled to find their footing and were restricted to a modest total of 126 for nine. Bharati Fulmali’s 42 and Kathryn Bryce’s unbeaten 28 provided some resistance but fell short against Delhi’s disciplined bowling attack. South African veteran Marizanne Kapp was outstanding, delivering figures of 2/17 in her four overs. Minnu Mani also impressed with two crucial wickets.

Delhi Capitals’ bowlers set the stage for their victory, and Shafali Verma’s aggressive batting sealed the deal. With this win, Delhi Capitals advance directly to the WPL final, where they will face the winner of the eliminator match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Capitals’ comprehensive performance underlines their dominance and sets the stage for an exciting final showdown.
