Delhi Capitals have suffered a significant setback in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, with two players—Deeya Yadav and Mamatha Madiwala—ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injuries.
The franchise confirmed the squad changes on Friday and announced Pragati Singh and Eddla Srujana as replacements. Both players have been signed at a reserve price of INR 10 lakh each and will be available for selection for the rest of the tournament.
The absence of Deeya and Mamatha comes at a crucial stage of the league, prompting Delhi Capitals’ management to act quickly to maintain squad balance and depth. The newly added players will be eager to make the most of their opportunities as the team pushes for a playoff berth.
Currently placed fourth on the points table with four points from five matches, Delhi Capitals are still in contention for the playoffs. After a slow start to the season, the team regained momentum with consecutive victories against UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians.
However, consistency remains a concern. While Delhi reached the finals in all three previous WPL editions, the side has struggled to replicate that level of performance in the current season.
Bowling depth has emerged as a key area of concern, with the team relying heavily on Marizanne Kapp. The lack of support from the rest of the bowling unit has put additional pressure on the side, something the management will be keen to address in the remaining fixtures.
Delhi Capitals have three league matches left against Bengaluru, Gujarat, and UP. Winning all three could secure a place in the playoffs, but the team will need improved performances across departments to progress to the knockout stage.
