Odisha braces for a cyclone alert as three low pressure systems form over the Bay of Bengal, sparking concerns of widespread rainfall between October 24 and 29.
The first system, currently active in the southwest Bay of Bengal, continues to intensify. Meteorologists expect it to develop into a depression by tonight and move northwest. As it approaches the coasts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh, southern Odisha districts may receive moderate to heavy showers.
Meanwhile, experts anticipate two more systems to follow in quick succession. The second may form around October 25, while the third could emerge between October 26 and 29. Forecast models suggest the third system may head toward Tamil Nadu, whereas the second could directly impact Odisha.
As these systems evolve, districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri are likely to receive rainfall. Interior regions may also witness intense showers due to overlapping weather activity.
In addition to rain, cold winds and overcast skies will sweep across the state. The Odisha government has already issued an alert and continues to monitor the situation. Meteorologists warn that the current system might drift toward the Arabian Sea, complicating the forecast further.
As the Odisha Cyclone Alert intensifies, authorities have begun preparing for possible disruptions. Residents should stay updated through official channels and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
