The Cyclonic Storm Ditwah over coastal Sri Lanka and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal continued moving north‑northwestwards at a speed of 4 kmph during the past six hours.

At 11:30 AM IST on November 28, 2025, the storm lay centred near latitude 8.4°N and longitude 81.0°E.

According to official updates, the system positioned itself about 30 km southwest of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 110 km northwest of Batticaloa (Sri Lanka), 310 km south‑southeast of Karaikal (India), 420 km south‑southeast of Puducherry (India), and 520 km south of Chennai (India).

Meteorologists indicated that the storm will likely continue its north‑northwestward movement across the Sri Lanka coast and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal. Furthermore, forecasts suggest that it will reach the southwest Bay of Bengal near north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts by the early morning of November 30.

Authorities are closely monitoring the system’s trajectory and intensity. Meanwhile, they have advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea. In addition, coastal districts in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh have been alerted for possible heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) emphasised that further bulletins will provide clarity on landfall and impact. Consequently, preparations are underway in vulnerable coastal regions to mitigate risks associated with the approaching storm.
