Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Yaas with winds gusting up to 185 km per hour began making landfall near Odisha after dumping heavy rains in several districts across the state.
It is centred about 50 km south-southeast of Balasore, said the IMD.
With very severe cyclone Yaas about to hit Odisha-West Bengal coasts in few hours, the Regional Meteorological Department has issued more updates on the forecast and impact of the storm so far.
As per latest records available, Chandbali has received 273 mm, the highest amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours. Paradip has recorded 197 mm of rainfall, Balasore 51 and Bhubaneswar 49 mm of rainfall during the period.
