A specialised workshop on “Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Intelligence” was inaugurated today at the Cyber Complex in Bhubaneswar, under the initiative of the State Crime Branch.

Odisha Director General of Police (DGP), Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, attended the event as the chief guest and formally launched the workshop.

The workshop aims to equip officers across all ranges and district levels with the necessary skills to combat cybercrime. Personnel from constables to higher-ranking officials will participate, ensuring a comprehensive training approach. The initiative will provide investigators with accurate cybercrime detection techniques and improve proficiency in handling cyber-related offences.

Recognising the increasing interference of cybercriminals in daily life, the Odisha government has approved the establishment of 20 new cyber and economic offence police stations across the state. These specialised units will play a pivotal role in preventing cyber crimes such as financial fraud, identity theft, digital extortion, and exploitation.

Additionally, the government has decided to set up the Odisha Cyber Command Centre in Bhubaneswar to streamline cybercrime detection and victim assistance. DGP Khurania emphasized the importance of continuous training and technical advancement for law enforcement to effectively counter sophisticated cyber threats.

Cybercrime expert Dr. Rakshit Tandon conducted the training sessions for officers from various districts, imparting knowledge on cyber investigation techniques and digital intelligence strategies. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by DIG STF Shri Pinak Mishra.
