Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan has announced that the Crime Branch will conduct a fresh investigation into the murder of former Health Minister Naba Das, dismissing the possibility of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.
This announcement follows a request from Minati Das, wife of the late minister, who had sought a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to demand a CBI inquiry.
The Crime Branch team has already recorded the statements of Naba Das’ family members at their residence in Jharsuguda. The Law Minister assured that the Crime Branch would conduct a thorough and professional investigation to explore all possible angles and motives behind the murder.
Meanwhile, a charge sheet has been filed in the Jharsuguda trial court against the prime accused, Gopal Krishna Das, and several witnesses have already been examined. However, today’s announcement raises questions about whether the victim’s family will persist in their demand for a CBI probe and what impact it could have on the ongoing trial proceedings.
The case remains a high-profile matter, drawing both public and political attention as new developments unfold.
