Bhubaneswar: Veteran bureaucrat and former Odisha Chief secretary Bijay Patnaik who joined the Congress party today, came down heavily on the BJD-led Odisha Government.
After joining the grand-old party, he said that the administration cannot reach the people. “There is an atmosphere of corruption and violence in the state. Now, the common people are confused to move to whom,” he said.
“BJD only understands votes. How will democracy work? This system needs to be changed. Democracy needs to be re-established in Odisha,” he added.
Based on his 40 years of experience in administration, Patnaik said he aimed at doing something for Odisha.
“We will try for a vibrant Congress in Odisha,” he said.
When asked about his plan to contest electoral poll, he replied that he has left the decision on AICC.
Congress president Mallikarjun Khadge, Odisha PCC president Sarat Patnaik, Odisha Congress-in-charge Chella Kumar and other Congress leaders welcomed Patnaik and formally inducted him into the Congress at AICC headquarters in Delhi.
