Commissionerate Police Bust ATM Machine Theft in Bhubaneswar, Six Held

Commissionerate police busted an ATM machine theft at Sriram Nagar in Bhubaneswar and arrested six persons in this connection.


The accused have been identified as

  1. Vicky Debiprasad Mallia (29) of Danda Sahi, Kapileswar, Bhubaneswar.
  2. Kanha @ Ramakanta sahoo (20) of Chintamani Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
  3. Sagar Samal (24) of Bhatta Sahi, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar.
  4. Baru @ Biren Rout (20) of Kandula Sahi, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar.
  5. Akash Mohapatra (27) of Danda Sahi, Kapileswar, Bhubaneswar.
  6. Bubai @ Akash Mukharji (23) of Near Smart Mall Bedabyass, P.S-Bedabyass, Rourkela. A/P Mukharjee Vihar, Phase -III, C-2 Colony, P.S- Phase-III, Delhi.

As per reports, the above persons stole an ATM machine from its designated location at Sriram Nagar in the early hours of January 24, 2025.

The incident was reported by Pradeep Ranjan Mohapatra, Chief Manager of the State Bank of India (SBI), Old Town branch, Bhubaneswar, at the Lingaraj Police Station at 12:15 PM.

According to the report, the theft occurred at approximately 2:40 AM, and the culprits made off with cash amounting to Rs. 21,77,700. The ATM machine, valued at around Rs. 1,70,000, brings the total loss to the bank to Rs. 23,47,700.

Following the report, a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. The police have seized several items believed to be connected to the crime, including:

  • A CD Delux motorcycle (Regd No-OD-33-W-3392)
  • A Pulsar 150 motorcycle (Regd No. OD-02-BZ-5553)
  • Cash amounting to Rs. 1,60,000
  • Two large crowbars and a hammer
  • A damaged ATM machine
  • A stolen Goods Auto used in the crime
  • Six mobile phones
