Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the Subhadra Shakti Mela in Subarnapur on February 1, 2026, announcing a series of development projects worth Rs 633 crore for the district.

The Chief Minister first visited the Samadhi Peeth of Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi at Khaliapali and held discussions with members of the management committee and saints.

Addressing the people of Subarnapur district, the Chief Minister said that Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi, who guided Odisha’s social and spiritual consciousness, will be honoured through the comprehensive development of his Samadhi Peeth, for which Rs 35 crore will be spent.

The Chief Minister also announced Rs 633 crore worth of new projects for Subarnapur. These include:

  • Construction of a river-based reservoir at Marudagochha with an investment of Rs 557 crore.
  • An open-air theatre at Sanskruti Bhavan costing Rs 11.23 crore.
  • Renovation of Gandhi Stadium with Rs 25.28 crore.
  • Improvement of Block Chhak Junction Road with Rs 4.23 crore.

Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 58 development projects worth Rs 276 crore. This includes 24 projects worth Rs 173 crore (foundation stones laid) and 34 projects worth Rs 103 crore (inaugurated). These projects will strengthen infrastructure in roads, drinking water, irrigation, education, health, rural development, and urban development.

At the Subhadra Shakti Mela, the Chief Minister also provided Rs 126 crore interest-free loans to 1,848 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Subarnapur district. He said this financial support will strengthen women-led enterprises, promote self-reliance, and enhance livelihoods.

In his address, the Chief Minister emphasised that Odisha’s development process includes all sections of society—poor, tribal communities, women, and youth—ensuring empowerment for all. He noted that over Rs 1,000 crore worth of industrial projects are already operational in Subarnapur, which has immense potential in agriculture, handloom, culture, and tourism. The government will continue efforts to bring sustainable prosperity to the district.

During the program, the Chief Minister distributed assistance amounts to beneficiaries of various schemes.
