In a troubling incident reported from Banabhuin Ashram School in the Nilagiri block of Balasore district, Class 10 students allegedly assaulted their juniors from Class 9 for refusing to clean the hostel premises.
The altercation, which reportedly took place on Tuesday, left several Class 9 students injured.
Parents of the victims have lodged formal complaints, demanding immediate action against the perpetrators. Speaking to the media, a distressed parent said, “My child has visible injury marks. We sent our children for education, not to endure violence.”
The headmistress of the school, however, refuted the allegations, stating that no serious assault occurred and that the issue is being exaggerated. “The claims are baseless. There has been no such attack,” she asserted.
Meanwhile, district welfare officials have stepped in to investigate the incident. An inquiry is underway, with authorities interviewing students, staff members, and eyewitnesses to uncover the truth.
The incident has sparked a wider discussion about student safety and discipline in residential schools across the state.
