In a shocking incident, a Class-10 girl student from a government-run residential school in the Chitrakonda area of Malkangiri district delivered a baby boy at the Chitrakonda Sub-Divisional Hospital on Monday evening.
The incident occurred after the student returned from her board examination.
The girl, an inmate of the school’s hostel, had been pregnant for several months without the school authorities noticing her condition. This has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of students in the school.
The girl’s parents have blamed the school authorities for the incident, accusing them of negligence. On the other hand, school teachers have shifted the blame onto the hostel warden.
Both the Chitrakonda police and the District Welfare Officer (DWO) have initiated investigations into the matter. Authorities have promised a thorough probe to determine the circumstances leading to the girl’s pregnancy and to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future.
This incident has sparked a wider debate about the need for better supervision and support systems in schools to safeguard the well-being of students.
