Balasore: Protesting the recent incident of chaining of a journalist by cops in Balasore’s Nilagiri, Kriyanusthan Committee is observing a 12-hour bandh today throwing normal life out of gear.
Due to the dawn-to-dusk bandh, schools and colleges, shops and other business establishments have remained closed. Besides, vehicular movements in the locality have come to a grinding halt as the activists staged road blockade on NH. The activists were seen staging picketing at various places.
Reportedly, Lokanath Dalei, a reporter of Odia daily newspaper, was allegedly chained to a bed while undergoing treatment at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.
The victim alleged that he was thrashed by Nilagiri Police Station IIC Draupadi Das following which he fell unconscious. He further alleged that by the direction of the IIC, he was tied to the hospital bed like a hardcore criminal during treatment.
