New Delhi: The Centre has committed to implementing the recommendations of a seven-member expert panel aimed at reforming the NEET-UG examination process. This decision was conveyed to the Supreme Court, which had previously declined to annul the 2024 NEET-UG exam despite allegations of malpractice.
The expert panel, led by former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, was tasked with reviewing the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) procedures and suggesting measures to enhance transparency and prevent future malpractices. The panel’s recommendations include stricter security protocols, improved question paper handling, and technological upgrades to ensure the integrity of the examination process.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, informed the Supreme Court that all the panel’s recommendations would be implemented. The court has scheduled a follow-up hearing in April to review the progress of these reforms.
The Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the 2024 exam results, despite the controversy, underscores the importance of maintaining the examination’s credibility while addressing systemic issues. The Centre’s commitment to these reforms is expected to restore confidence in the NEET-UG examination process, ensuring a fair and transparent system for aspiring medical students across the country.
