Bhubaneswar: The Centre has allocated Rs 10,536 crore for Odisha’s railway infrastructure development, informed Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a press meet today.
At a press conference, Vaishnaw stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keenly focused on enhancing the Railway infrastructure in Odisha and personally monitors the progress of the various ongoing projects in the state.”
“During the UPA tenure, Odisha received only Rs 838 crore. However, under BJP’s rule, the funding has increased twelvefold, reflecting the central government’s commitment to Odisha’s development,” added Vaishnaw.
He further informed that “With an investment of Rs 54,434 crore, 40 projects are currently underway in Odisha. The railway projects in the state are set to undergo a significant overhaul during PM Modi’s third term.” Additionally, he mentioned, “Odisha’s railway network has reached 100 per cent electrification, and 59 railway stations, including Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, are slated for redevelopment as Amrit Bharat Stations.”
