Central Zone emerged victorious in the Duleep Trophy 2025 final, defeating South Zone by six wickets at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru.
Chasing a modest target of 65 runs on the final day, Central overcame early jitters, losing four wickets before sealing the win in the morning session.
This triumph marks Central Zone’s first Duleep Trophy title since the 2014–15 season, ending a ten-year drought. Their dominant first-innings score of 511 laid the foundation, while South Zone struggled early, collapsing for just 149 on a batting-friendly pitch.
Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain was named Player of the Series for his stellar performance, finishing as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker with 16 scalps and contributing two crucial half-centuries. Yash Rathod earned Player of the Match honors for his impactful display in the final.
South Zone coach L. Balaji acknowledged the team’s poor shot selection in the first innings, attributing it to the inexperience of the young batting lineup. “They will learn from this,” he said.
The final showcased promising domestic talent and reaffirmed the importance of the Duleep Trophy as a steppingstone for national selection.
