The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued an open call for inputs from stakeholders on provisions of the newly introduced Income Tax Bill, 2025.

The Bill, which is currently under detailed review by a Select Committee in Parliament, aims to reform and simplify tax laws in India.

In line with this initiative, the CBDT has launched a utility on the e-filing portal, enabling stakeholders to submit their suggestions. Accessible via an OTP-based validation process, the utility has been live since March 8, 2025. Stakeholders are encouraged to submit feedback highlighting specific provisions in the Income Tax Rules, 1962, across four key categories:

  1. Simplification of language.
  2. Reduction of litigation.
  3. Reduction of compliance burden.
  4. Identification of outdated or redundant rules and forms.

This effort is part of a broader initiative to streamline the Income Tax Rules and Forms, with objectives including enhanced clarity, reduced administrative burden, improved ease of filing, and better transparency. By seeking public participation, the government aims to create a more efficient and user-friendly tax system.

Submissions will be compiled and presented to the Select Committee for review. For more details, visit the e-filing portal at eportal.incometax.gov.in
