The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages for over 10.91 lakh non-gazetted railway employees.
The move, involving a financial outlay of ₹1,865.68 crore, comes ahead of the Durga Puja/Dussehra festive season. Each eligible employee will receive a maximum bonus of ₹17,951, benefitting staff including track maintainers, loco pilots, guards, station masters, supervisors, technicians, pointsmen, ministerial staff and other Group ‘C’ employees.
The PLB scheme is paid annually as an incentive to motivate railway staff and reward their contribution to the network’s efficiency. The Railways recorded 1614.90 million tonnes of freight loading and carried 7.3 billion passengers in FY 2024–25, reflecting strong performance.
