Sahadevkhunta Police conducted a raid in the Arad Bazaar area and seized 170 grams of brown sugar along with Rs 30,600 in cash.
The accused, identified as Seikh Kurban, was arrested during the operation.
According to SP Raj Prasad, the accused has been involved in drug trafficking for several years and has multiple cases registered against him. Kurban was previously arrested in 2012 by Sahadevkhunta Police and again in 2020 by the STF for similar offenses. Despite being released from jail in December 2022, he resumed his illegal activities.
Acting on reliable information, a special police team carried out the raid yesterday afternoon, leading to the seizure of the contraband and cash. The police have registered case number 134/25 and have forwarded the accused to court.
This arrest marks another step in the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
