Ten schools in Chandigarh and neighbouring Mohali received bomb threat calls, forcing administrators to suspend classes and send students home.
Police teams immediately secured the campuses and initiated searches under standard security protocols.
One of the affected schools informed parents through an urgent message that buses already on their routes were being turned back. Parents were asked to collect their children from designated stops. The school emphasised that the safety of students, staff, and families remained its highest priority.
Local police and emergency response teams deployed bomb disposal squads and dog units to inspect the campuses. Authorities confirmed that no suspicious objects had been found at the time of reporting.
The incident followed similar threats in Delhi a day earlier, where multiple schools received bomb threat emails. Those threats prompted evacuations and large-scale security sweeps involving police, fire services, and ambulances. Principals in Delhi noted that most such threats over the past year turned out to be hoaxes, but strict protocols were followed each time.
In October last year, more than 200 Delhi schools received bomb threat emails in a single day, contributing to over 500 such threats reported through 2024.
Officials in Chandigarh and Mohali assured parents that investigations are underway and that security measures will remain in place until campuses are declared safe.
