New Delhi: BJP leader and Union Minister JP Nadda has been appointed the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Nadda, the Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat became the Leader of the Upper House replacing Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The Session of Rajya Sabha will commence on June 27 and will conclude on July 3.
The Health and Family Welfare minister is also allocated with the portfolio of Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers in the newly formed cabinet. Nadda will continue to serve as the BJP’s national president.
The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha following the 2024 general elections began today with the swearing-in of the newly elected members, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other Union Ministers.
In the beginning, President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath to BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the pro-tem Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Then Mahtab invited PM Modi, the Leader of the Lok Sabha, to take oath as a member of the House.
