BJP released its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming two-phase Bihar Assembly elections scheduled on November 6 and 11.
The announcement includes prominent leaders such as Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.
Choudhary will contest from Tarapur, while Sinha will represent Lakhisarai. Minister Nitin Nabin has been fielded from Bankipur, and senior leader Renu Devi will contest from Bettiah. The party aims to consolidate its position across key constituencies.
The Central Election Committee finalized the list during a meeting held on October 12 under the leadership of BJP national president JP Nadda. The selection reflects the party’s strategy to retain strongholds and challenge opposition in swing regions.
Votes will be counted on November 14. The elections will be held in two phases, covering all 243 Assembly seats.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) also announced its seat-sharing formula. BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, LJP (Ram Vilas) will contest 29, while Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha will contest six seats each.
The NDA alliance, comprising BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, is preparing for a high-stakes electoral battle. Campaigns are expected to intensify in the coming weeks with rallies, roadshows, and outreach programs.
