BJP Alleges Abuse Against PM Modi’s Late Mother During Tejashwi Yadav’s ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’

The political atmosphere in Bihar intensified on Sunday after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers of hurling abuses at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during Tejashwi Yadav’s ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’.

BJP Accuses Tejashwi of Encouraging Abuses

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, in a strongly worded post on X, alleged that Tejashwi Yadav not only allowed but encouraged his party workers to verbally attack the PM’s late mother.

“Tejashwi Yadav has once again insulted Modi ji’s late mother. He has once again torn apart the culture of Bihar. In the rally, the RJD workers were hurling as many abuses as they could, and Tejashwi was encouraging them. The mothers and sisters of Bihar will surely hold him accountable for this thuggish mentality and abusive behaviour,” Choudhary wrote while sharing the purported video clip of the incident.

Political Context and Past Incident

This is the second time in recent weeks that a similar controversy has emerged in Bihar’s heated political environment ahead of assembly elections. Last month, a man at a stage prepared for Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga was accused of making similar derogatory remarks against the PM’s late mother.

Reactions from Bihar BJP Leadership

Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha echoed Choudhary’s criticism, calling the incident “shocking” and accusing the RJD leader of boosting the morale of his workers through such behaviour.

“This shows their mindset. Once again, abuses were hurled at the late mother of PM Modi Ji during Tejashwi Yadav’s yatra, and the RJD leader was boosting the morale of his workers. It’s shocking,” Sinha posted on X.

Choudhary further said, “This is extremely unfortunate and a grave insult to democracy. Has insulting mothers and sisters become their culture and weapon to counter parties in opposition? The people of Bihar understand this dirty politics well and will respond in a democratic manner.”

Tejashwi’s ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ and Political Stakes

Tejashwi Yadav, seen as the INDIA bloc’s face for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, launched his ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ from Jehanabad on September 16.

In the first leg, which concluded on September 20, Yadav toured NDA strongholds such as Nalanda — home district of JD(U) chief and CM Nitish Kumar — and Begusarai, the constituency of BJP leader Giriraj Singh.

Political analysts say this controversy could further escalate the war of words between the RJD-led opposition and the ruling NDA as the state heads toward high-stakes elections later this year.
