Two persons were killed and one sustained critical injuries after their bike plunged from a 20-ft high bridge into the Andarigada canal in Nandapur block of Koraput district in the early hours today.
The mishap occurred under Chatua panchayat in the Nandapur block, bordering Andhra Pradesh. The victims were returning from Shiv Ratri festivities in Chatua village when the incident took place.
While two of the victims died on the spot, the critically injured individual, identified as Tripati Khara, was rushed to Nandapur Community Health Centre for immediate medical attention. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.
According to reports, the trio was from Sadam village in the district’s Pottangi block. Preliminary investigations suggest that the bike might have lost control, resulting in the fall.
Authorities have reached the scene and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
