The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the successful conduct of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, recording a 67.13% voter turnout, the highest since 1951.
The Commission confirmed that officials will begin counting on November 14, 2025, with extensive arrangements already in place.
Key Highlights
- Zero Repolls: None of the 2,616 candidates or 12 recognised political parties requested repolls.
- Zero Appeals: With 7.45 crore electors in the final roll, no political party filed appeals during the Summary Revision (SIR) across Bihar’s 38 districts.
Counting Arrangements
Officials will conduct counting in 243 Assembly Constituencies.
- 243 Returning Officers (ROs) and 243 Counting Observers will oversee the process.
- Staff will operate 4,372 counting tables, each with a supervisor, assistant, and micro-observer.
- Candidates have appointed over 18,000 counting agents to monitor proceedings.
Counting Process
Officials will start counting at 8:00 AM on November 14.
- They will count postal ballots first, then begin EVM counting at 8:30 AM.
- They will complete postal ballot counting before the penultimate round of EVM counting.
- During EVM counting, staff will present Control Units to agents, who will verify seals and serial numbers against Form 17C records.
- Any mismatch will trigger mandatory VVPAT slip counting.
- After EVM counting, officials will randomly select five polling stations per constituency for VVPAT verification. They will match slips with EVM results in the presence of candidates and agents.
Results
Returning Officers will compile results round-wise and constituency-wise. The Commission will publish verified updates only on the official ECI Results Portal.
The Commission advised citizens, TV channels, and online media to rely solely on the official portal and avoid hearsay or unofficial sources.
